Also, the anime drawing lessons and tutorials on this list will definitely teach you how to draw amazing anime and manga arts. You may need to see our animation drawing course free download.

Easy anime drawings for beginners

First of all, drawing is more like driving, the more you practice, the better you get. Whether you are going for anime drawings girl or anime drawings boy, you have to be more intentional about which art you want to create.

The key is to draw things that interest you. You are more likely to stick with it (even if your first few tries are a disaster) and before you know it those skills will come. And you may be surprised at what you will achieve along the process.

Ok, let’s see some easy anime drawings for beginners to start with.

1. Food

Food is a great topic for a beginner. It has universal appeal, is easy to spot, and will pose for you without complaint. Drawing food also gives you instant information about shapes and spatial relationships.

2. Faces and Expressions

Drawing a full character can seem too complicated when you’re just a beginner. However, exploring faces and facial expressions is easy.

With a little practice, you’ll be amazed at just how varied the emotions you can convey with just a few simple lines and subtle changes to the position and angle of your eyes, brows, and lips.

3. Trees

You’ve probably been drawing trees since kindergarten. But when you’re ready to get serious, the trees will be there for you too.

Since this is such a universal topic, you don’t have to be very adept to create something recognizable. Whether it’s a simplified triangle turned into a Christmas tree or cloud-shaped trains on simple linear trunks, trees are accessible to artists of all skill levels.

If you need a sample, look out through the window! You surely find one. Lol..

4. Flowers

Similarly to trees, flowers are worthwhile for beginners because they are instantly recognizable no matter how you draw them. Their nonlinear organic shapes are extremely forgiving, making flowers a great place to start if you are still not very confident with your drawing skills.

Flowers are also a fun way to try your hand at mixed media. Adding color and even texture will bring your drawing to life.

5. Cartoon Animals

With cartoon animals, it usually only takes a few lines to create an absolutely lovable character. Cartoon animals are also a great option to play around with funny expressions (see # 2) for really noteworthy creatures.

Once you master the cartoon method, you will find it much easier to draw more realistic animals.

6.  Leaves

Obviously, the leaves are small and simple in shape. They are easy to draw, regardless of your ability. Just take what you like on the outside or look for a photo in a book or online.

However, the key to restoring lifelike leaves is to capture the slightly uneven shape (no two leaves are exactly alike in nature). Once you master the outline, you can have a lot of fun filling it out.

How to draw anime for beginners: The 8 proven steps and guides

1. Make Light Line Drawings First

Draw with light lines first, then trace over with darker lines once you are sure everything is in place. This is particularly useful for large or more complex drawings.

Clear lines are easier to erase when you make a mistake and easier to do (you don’t have to press the pen as hard to make your hand less tired).

Even if you’re drawing digitally, it’s a good idea to sketch first and then go over it with lighter lines.

Drawing your own lines is also another exercise to stabilize your hand.

Try to draw with as few lines as possible. If you make a mistake with your first line, you can add more lines until you get the correct one. However, don’t scribble or draw extra lines just to accomplish this. If you make too many mistakes, erase that part of your drawing and start over.

2. Use Guide/Construction Lines

Use guidelines to make drawing easier. For example, if you want to draw a symmetrical head/face from the front view, you can first draw a horizontal line through the center of where you want to draw the face.

You can use this line to ensure that both halves of your face are equally wide. You can then draw a horizontal line (or multiple lines) to make sure that both eyes and ears are at the same height.

3. Plan Out Your Drawing & Draw Larger to Smaller

Before you start drawing, estimate your proportions. If you compare the sizes of different parts or objects in your drawing, you are less likely to make a mistake.

Regardless of what you’re drawing, start with the largest shapes first. You don’t always have to start with the absolute largest shape, but definitely not with the smallest details.

When drawing a person, start with the head and work your way through the rest of the body. Don’t draw the smallest details like facial features until you have the shape of the entire body.

4. Keep Different Parts of Your Drawing in the Same Stages of Completion

Try to keep the various objects in your drawing in roughly the same finished state. For example, if you are drawing eyes, you draw the outer shape of each eye, and then the shape of each iris.

That way, you’ll be more likely to notice when the first one is out of place, and you’ll only have to step back a little if you make a mistake (similar to the example above).

5. Draw Things That Are Hidden

Sometimes it’s a good idea to draw things that are hidden from something else.

In the example above, some parts of the head and face will be hidden by hair in the final drawing. However, you may want to draw their basic shapes and delete them later.

The reason for this is to ensure the correct placement of the visible parts. For example, if you are making a slight drawing of the second eye, you can check the distance between the eyes to make sure the visible eye is properly positioned.

You can also draw the outer shape of the ears to estimate how much volume the hair will need to cover them.

6. Do Drawing Exercises

As a beginner, you can really benefit from some fairly simple exercises in drawing basic geometric shapes and lines. These exercises will help stabilize your hand and train you to spot (and avoid) common mistakes.

  • Straight Lines Drawing Exercises: The most basic exercises are drawing straight lines in different directions. Draw horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines without rotating your drawing area (paper, tablet, etc…).
  • Curved Lines Drawing Exercises: In addition to straight lines, practice drawing curved lines in different directions and try to get a nice smooth curve without jitter or sharp curves. Do not rotate the drawing area as in the straight-line exercise.
  • Basic Shapes Drawing Exercises: Practice drawing basic shapes such as squares, circles, triangles, ovals, rectangles, etc. Try and draw each shape with only one stroke per side. Draw the circle and ovals with one solid line from start to finish. Don’t worry if your shapes don’t come out right, simply try and improve on the next shape.
  • Mixed Drawing Exercises: You can also combine the drawing exercises. For example, you can draw a square that draws lines in it that goes from one corner to the other, followed by two more lines that pass through the intersection of those lines, and then draw a circle inside the starting square. However, differently from the previous exercise, draw this circle every quarter. In addition to all of the above benefits, this exercise is also great for learning to draw symmetrical shapes.

7. Study the Anime Style

To make art that looks like anime and manga you have to understand their defining characteristics.

8. Check for Mistakes.

If you are having trouble spotting your mistakes, turn your drawing upside down or hold it up to a mirror. Furthermore, you can take your eyes off the drawing for about 5 minutes. This will give you a fresh “perspective” making it easier to see them.

Why the name anime?

The term anime is derived from the English word animation, and in Japan is used to refer to all forms of animated media. Outside Japan, the term refers specifically to animation from Japan or to a Japanese-disseminated animation style often characterized by colorful graphics, vibrant characters and fantastical themes.

What is the difference between Anime and Manga

Simply put, Manga is the term used for Japanese comics and graphic novels, while Anime is the name for Japanese animation. Although both are considered more of a genre in the West, they actually describe how content is produced.

Is it easy to draw anime?

No, it’s not easy to draw anime! … You need to know basic anatomy, be able to render correctly, and understand perspective and how light and shadow work. Anime is an abstraction of reality and as such it is sometimes even more difficult to draw than a realistic picture.
