Hi, what great news! This Google online certificates scholarships is just new. We thought it wise to bring it to you so that you can participate in this Google scholarship. On July 13, Google announced three new online certification programs. Just for data analysis, project management, and user experience (UX) design.
Google employees create and teach certificates; they do not require a college degree.
Meanwhile, it can be completed in three to six months. Offered through the Coursera online learning platform.
Google says it will consider all of its certificates as the equivalent of a four-year college degree for related functions in the company. Obviously, It’s an awesome bargain, right?
Interestingly, it is not revenue-generating for Google, according to Lisa Gevelber, who is Google’s vice president and also the leader of Grow with Google and Google for Startups and serves as the company’s Americas chief marketing officer.
“There’s a small cost from the Coursera platform itself — the current pricing is $49 a month — but we want to ensure that anyone who wants to have this opportunity can have it.” Lisa Gevelber is still speaking.
Also, the tech giants have committed to funding 10,000 need-based scholarships for individuals enrolled in any of these career certificate programs. In addition, we will be awarding over $10 million in grants to YWCA, NPower, and JFF. The three nonprofit organizations that partner with Google provide workforce development to women, veterans, and underrepresented Americans.
Specifically, Gevelber says Google chose the specific fields of data analytics, project management, and user experience because they can lead to “high-growth, high-paying careers.”

What prompts Google Online Certificates Scholarships Announcement In July 2023?
Google’s 100,000 online certificates scholarships announcement comes as the United States is struggling with historically high unemployment rates.
According to recent United States Department of Labor, data, 33 million people received unemployment benefits on June 20. It is 5 times the previous 6.6 million visits during the Great Recession.
And while some of these jobs may return over time, the coronavirus pandemic has fueled concerns that some jobs may not return for various reasons, including cost-cutting measures, company closings, and also automation.
The coronavirus “has accelerated some job trends like automation,” Karen Fichuk, CEO of Randstad North America, told CNBC Make It in April. Adding that unemployed Americans may need to develop new skills to find new jobs. “We are seeing this important need for mass training and retraining, especially for laid-off workers.”
Some believe that low-cost certificate programs can be a solution. Also, a tool to address historical inequalities in areas such as technology. In addition, improve the likelihood of problems for those without a college degree.
“College degrees are of great value but not accessible to everyone,” says Gevelber. “And we believe that the lack of a university degree should not be an obstacle to economic stability.”
Google’s Scholarship Certificate Similar Program
Flashback in 2018, Google launched a similar certification program for those interested in IT.
“When we first created the IT certificate, we created it for our own use,” says Gevelber. “We wanted to diversify our own workforce, and we knew we had to create a ramp for underrepresented and ‘non-traditional’ applicants.
We thought a certificate was one way to do it, and it was.”
According to Google, 58% of those receiving the IT certificate identify as black, Latino, female, or veteran. In addition, 45% of participants earn less than $30,000 a year.
The company claims that 80% of participants said the program had helped them move forward in their job or career search within six months, including a raise, finding a new job, or starting a new business.
For example, Yves Cooper received the Google IT certificate in 2018 as part of a staff development program implemented by Merit America. Cooper had dropped out of Coppin State University and was working as a bus driver for adults with developmental disorders.
Interestingly, Cooper works as an IT technical support technician for Prosperity Now, a DC nonprofit, earning “much more.”
He says the Merit America program provided personal support and encouraged his class of six students to complete the certificate in 10 weeks. And that he and three others have completed the program.
Before the show, Cooper said he had not heard from organizations he applied to. “A few days after completing the Google certification, I applied for the job I currently have, and they could have contacted me four or five days later,” he says.

Google and Coursera Partnership
According to Jeff Maggioncalda, CEO of Coursera, more than 250,000 people have received the Google IT certificate, 57% of whom do not have a university degree. It is also the most popular certificate on the platform.
Notwithstanding, he suspects that the new certificates will be equally popular, especially given recent events.
According to Maggioncalda, the coronavirus pandemic has obviously created an “unprecedented demand” for online courses.
Maggioncalda continues….
“There is a Yale course in wellness science that enrolled 2 million people in 2023 alone,” he says. “We have a course launched by John Hopkins in May called” COVID Contact Tracking. “400,000 participants signed up in four weeks.”
Some are skeptical of the great promises of online learning and certification programs.
Why Going Online?
A Harvard Graduate School of Education professor, Todd Rose, argues that online learning is significantly easier for students with a strong academic background, reliable Internet connections, and adequate technology.
“Students who do well online are people who are already prepared. You have to be pretty self-determined, “he says, noting that the personal support of online learning students can help bridge those gaps.” Poor, first-generation students often don’t do as well online. “
But Maggioncalda is optimistic about the opportunities that online learning could offer. He says that the coronavirus pandemic has forced students to learn online and companies to work remotely.
Consequently, he is more optimistic than ever that certificates like Google’s are used as tools to increase opportunities.
“The requirement for a college degree excludes many people who could do the job if they only had a different way of acquiring the skills. Learning online is a necessary ingredient but not enough to achieve more social justice,” he says.
He continued…
“Our ‘new normal’ where I can qualify to do a job without leaving my comfort zone. Where I can get the job and do the job and get paid for the job without leaving my environment.
I think this will be a cheaper opportunity than anything we’ve seen before. “
With that being said, Google thought it wise to go online and partner with Coursera to provide the 100,000 Google online certificate scholarships.
